Who can obtain a burn permit?

Only the property owner can obtain a burn permit in approved areas. Tenants must have written permission from the property owner. Permits are conditional and may be revoked at any time.

How can I obtain a burn permit?

You must apply online using this website. If you are experiencing challenges, please call Fire Administration at 905-985-2384 x 200.

Do I need a permit?

All burning within Scugog requires a permit.

Do I need to phone prior to burning?

No, once you have purchased a permit you do not need to notify us prior to burning. Please ensure that you are burning within the hours allowed for your permit type and that no burn ban is in effect. As a reminder, all permits expire on December 31st of the year in which they were purchased.

Is there a burn ban in effect?

There is no burn ban in effect. Please ensure that you have a valid burn permit prior to burning.
